The chemical name of lacosamide, the single (R)-enantiomer, is (R)-2-acetamido-N-benzyl-3-methoxypropionamide (IUPAC). Lacosamide is a functionalized amino acid. Its molecular formula is C 13 H 18 N 2 O 3 and its molecular weight is 250.30. The chemical structure is: Lacosamide, USP is a white to light yellow powder. It is sparingly soluble in water and slightly soluble in acetonitrile, soluble in dichloromethane and methanol. 11.1 Lacosamide Tablets Lacosamide tablets, USP for oral administration contain lacosamide and the following inactive ingredients: colloidal silicon dioxide, crospovidone, hydroxypropyl cellulose, magnesium stearate and microcrystalline cellulose. Lacosamide tablets, USP are supplied as debossed tablets and contain the following coating agents: 50 mg tablets: opadry pink 03F140000 contains hypromellose 6cp, titanium dioxide, polyethylene glycol, FD&C Red #40/allura Red AC aluminum lake, FD&C Blue #2/indigo carmine aluminum lake. 100 mg tablets: opadry yellow 03F82606 contains hypromellose 6cp, titanium dioxide, polyethylene glycol, iron oxide yellow, iron oxide red. 150 mg tablets: opadry beige 03F130001 contains hypromellose 6cp, titanium dioxide, polyethylene glycol, FD&C Yellow #6/sunset yellow FCF aluminum lake, FD&C Red #40/Allura Red AC aluminum lake, FD&C Blue #2/indigo carmine aluminum lake. 200 mg tablets: opadry blue 03F105002 contains hypromellose 6cp, titanium dioxide, polyethylene glycol, FD&C Blue #2/indigo carmine aluminum lake.
