COMPLERA is a fixed-dose combination tablet containing FTC, rilpivirine hydrochloride, and TDF. Emtricitabine (FTC) is a synthetic nucleoside analog of cytidine. Rilpivirine (RPV) is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor. Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) is converted in vivo to tenofovir, an acyclic nucleoside phosphonate (nucleotide) analog of adenosine 5′-monophosphate. COMPLERA tablets are for oral administration. Each tablet contains 200 mg of FTC, 27.5 mg of rilpivirine hydrochloride (equivalent to 25 mg of RPV), and 300 mg of TDF (equivalent to 245 mg of tenofovir disoproxil) as active ingredients. The tablets include the following inactive ingredients: croscarmellose sodium, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polysorbate 20, povidone, pregelatinized starch. The tablets are film coated with a coating material containing FD&C Blue #2 aluminum lake, FD&C Yellow #6 aluminum lake, hypromellose, iron oxide red, lactose monohydrate, polyethylene glycol, titanium dioxide, triacetin.
