Gentamicin sulfate, USP a water-soluble antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group, is derived from Micromonospora purpurea, an actinomycete. It has the following structural formula: Gentamicin injection, USP is a sterile, nonpyrogenic, aqueous solution for parenteral administration.
