Methotrexate is a folate analog metabolic inhibitor with the chemical name of N -[4-[[(2,4-diamino-6-pteridinyl) methyl]methylamino]benzoyl]-L-glutamic acid and a molecular weight of 454.44. The molecular formula is C 20 H 22 N 8 O 5 , and the structural formula is shown below: Preservative-free Methotrexate for Injection, lyophilized, is supplied in sterile single dose only vials for intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous or intrathecal use. • Each vial of lyophilized powder contains 1,000 mg methotrexate equivalent to 1096.7 mg of methotrexate sodium.
