Sertraline hydrochloride tablets contains sertraline hydrochloride, an SSRI. Sertraline hydrochloride has a molecular weight of 342.7 and has the following chemical name: (1S,4S)-4-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-N-methyl-1-naphthylamine hydrochloride. The empirical formula C 17 H 17 Cl 2 N·HCl is represented by the following structural formula: Sertraline hydrochloride is a white or off white crystalline powder that is sparingly soluble in methanol, dimethyl formamide and absolute alcohol; slightly soluble in water, acetone and isopropanol. Sertraline hydrochloride tablets, USP for oral administration contain 28.0 mg, 56.0 mg and 111.9 mg sertraline hydrochloride equivalent to 25, 50 and 100 mg of sertraline and the following inactive ingredients: Microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal silicon dioxide, hydroxypropylcellulose, sodium starch glycolate, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide, hypromellose, polyethylene glycol and polysorbate 80. The 25 mg and 50 mg strength also contains FD&C blue no. 2. The 25 mg strength also contains D&C yellow no. 10 aluminum lake. 100 mg strength also contains iron oxide yellow, iron oxide red. image description
