Tramadol hydrochloride extended-release tablets, USP are an opioid agonist composed of a matrix delivery system with extended-release characteristics. The chemical name for tramadol hydrochloride, USP is (±) cis -2-[(dimethylamino) methyl]-1-(3 methoxyphenyl) cyclohexanol hydrochloride. Its structural formula is: The molecular weight of tramadol hydrochloride, USP is 299.8. Tramadol hydrochloride, USP is a white crystalline powder that is freely soluble in water and ethanol. Tramadol hydrochloride extended-release tablets, USP are for oral administration and contain 100 mg, 200 mg or 300 mg of tramadol hydrochloride, USP. The tablets are white in color. The inactive ingredients in the tablet are pregelatinized maize starch, hypromellose, mannitol, magnesium stearate, cellulose acetate and polyethylene glycol.
