Ropivacaine hydrochloride injection, USP is a sterile, isotonic solution that contains ropivacaine hydrochloride, USP as the active pharmaceutical ingredient. Ropivacaine hydrochloride, USP is a member of the amino amide class of local anesthetics. The pKa of ropivacaine is approximately the same as bupivacaine (8.1) and is similar to that of mepivacaine (7.7). However, ropivacaine hydrochloride, USP has an intermediate degree of lipid solubility compared to bupivacaine and mepivacaine. Ropivacaine hydrochloride injection, USP is a clear, colorless, and preservative-free solution, available in single-dose infusion bag in 2 mg/mL (0.2%) and 5 mg/mL (0.5%) concentrations. Each mL contains ropivacaine hydrochloride USP, 2 mg or 5 mg (equivalent to 2.12 mg or 5.29 mg ropivacaine hydrochloride monohydrate) and sodium chloride 8.6 mg or 8.0 mg; respectively, and sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid as pH adjusters, in water for injection.
