Sorafenib, a kinase inhibitor, is the tosylate salt of sorafenib. Sorafenib tosylate has the chemical name 4-(4-{3-[4-Chloro-3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]ureido}phenoxy)- N 2 -methylpyridine-2 carboxamide mono(4-methylbenzenesulfonate). The molecular formula of sorafenib tosylate is C 21 H 16 ClF 3 N 4 O 3 x C 7 H 8 O 3 S and the molecular weight of sorafenib tosylate is 637.03 g/mole. Its structural formula is: Sorafenib tosylate,USP is a White to slightly yellowish to brownish powder. Sorafenib tosylate is practically insoluble in aqueous media and in heptane, slightly soluble in ethanol. Sorafenib tablets, USP for oral use are supplied as film-coated tablets containing 200 mg sorafenib equivalent to 274 mg sorafenib tosylate, USP and the following inactive ingredients: croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium lauryl sulphate, opadry 04F550007 Red.
