Topiramate USP is a sulfamate-substituted monosaccharide. Topiramate Tablets USP are available as 25 mg, 50 mg, 100 mg, and 200 mg round tablets for oral administration. Topiramate USP is a white to off white powder. It is freely soluble in dichloromethane. Topiramate USP has the molecular formula C 12 H 21 NO 8 S and a molecular weight of 339.37. Topiramate USP is designated chemically as 2,3:4,5-Di- O -isopropylidene-β-D-fructopyranose sulfamate and has the following structural formula: Topiramate tablets USP contain the following inactive ingredients: lactose monohydrate, pregelatinized starch, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, magnesium stearate, purified water, hypromellose, titanium dioxide, polyethylene glycol, and polysorbate 80. The 50 mg tablets also contain iron oxide yellow and FD&C yellow# 6 for color. The 100 mg and 200 mg tablets also contain iron oxide red and iron oxide yellow for color. Structure of topiramate
