Cefdinir for oral suspension USP contains the active ingredient cefdinir monohydrate, USP, an extended-spectrum, semisynthetic cephalosporin, for oral administration. Chemically, cefdinir monohydrate, USP is (6 R ,7 R )-7-[[(2Z)-(2-amino-4-thiazolyl)(hydroxyimino)acetyl]amino]-3-ethenyl-8-oxo-5-thia-1-azabicyclo[4.2.0]oct-2-ene-2-carboxylic acid monohydrate. Cefdinir monohydrate, USP is a white to light yellow crystalline powder. Its solubility is 19.56 mg/mL in 0.1 M pH 7 phosphate buffer.
