Diclofenac Sodium Extended-release Tablets are a benzeneacetic acid derivative. Diclofenac sodium is a white or slightly yellowish crystalline powder and is sparingly soluble in water at 25°C. The chemical name is 2-[(2,6-dichlorophenyl)amino] benzeneacetic acid, monosodium salt. The molecular weight is 318.14 g/mol. Its molecular formula is C 14 H 10 Cl 2 NNaO 2 , and it has the following structural formula: Each extended-release tablet for oral administration contains 100 mg of diclofenac sodium, USP. In addition, each tablet contains the following inactive ingredients: anhydrous lactose, colloidal silicon dioxide, D & C Red # 27 (phloxine aluminum lake), hydroxyethyl cellulose, hypromellose, isopropyl alcohol, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, povidone, talc, titanium dioxide, and triacetin.
