The empirical formula C 17 H 17 NCl 2 •HCl is represented by the following structural formula: Sertraline hydrochloride, USP is a white crystalline powder that is slightly soluble in water and isopropyl alcohol, and sparingly soluble in ethanol. Sertraline hydrochloride tablets, USP for oral administration contain 27.98 mg, 55.96 mg and 111.92 mg sertraline hydrochloride equivalent to 25, 50 and 100 mg of sertraline and the following inactive ingredients: croscarmellose sodium, dibasic calcium phosphate dihydrate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, and purified water. Additionally, the 25 mg tablet includes Opadry 12F21129 Green containing D&C yellow #10 aluminum lake, FD&C blue #2 aluminum lake, hypromellose, polyethylene glycol, polysorbate 80, and titanium dioxide. The 50 mg tablet includes Opadry 12F20984 Blue containing FD&C blue #2 aluminum lake, hypromellose, polyethylene glycol, polysorbate 80, and titanium dioxide. The 100 mg tablet includes Opadry 12F22609 Yellow containing black iron oxide, hypromellose, polyethylene glycol, polysorbate 80, titanium dioxide, and yellow iron oxide.
