Fluconazole, the first of a new subclass of synthetic triazole antifungal agents, is available as tablets for oral administration. Fluconazole is designated chemically as 2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)-1,3-bis([1,2,4]triazol-1-yl)propan-2-ol with a molecular formula of C 13 H 12 F 2 N 6 O and molecular weight of 306.3 g/mol. The structural formula is: Fluconazole is a white crystalline solid which is slightly soluble in water and saline. Fluconazole Tablets, USP contain 150 mg of fluconazole and the following inactive ingredients: colloidal silicon dioxide, croscarmellose sodium, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate and microcrystalline cellulose.
