Capecitabine, USP is a nucleoside metabolic inhibitor. The chemical name is 5’-deoxy-5-fluoro-N-[(pentyloxy) carbonyl]-cytidine and has a molecular weight of 359.35. Capecitabine has the following structural formula: Capecitabine, USP is a white to off-white crystalline powder with an aqueous solubility of 26 mg/mL at 20ºC. Capecitabine tablets, USP are supplied as oblong shaped, biconvex film coated tablets for oral administration. Each light peach to peach colored tablet contains 150 mg or 500 mg capecitabine, USP. The inactive ingredients in capecitabine tablets, USP include: anhydrous lactose, croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose, magnesium stearate and microcrystalline cellulose.
