Capecitabine, USP is a nucleoside metabolic inhibitor. The chemical name is 5’-deoxy-5-fluoro-N-[(pentyloxy) carbonyl]-cytidine and has a molecular formula of C 15 H 22 FN 3 O 6 and a molecular weight of 359.35. Capecitabine, USP has the following structural formula: Capecitabine, USP is a white to off-white crystalline powder with an aqueous solubility of 26 mg/mL at 20°C. Capecitabine tablets, USP are supplied as oblong, film-coated, biconvex, unscored tablets for oral administration. Each peach to light peach-colored tablet contains 150 mg or 500 mg capecitabine, USP. The inactive ingredients are as follows: anhydrous lactose, croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, red iron oxide, talc, titanium dioxide, and yellow iron oxide.
