Nabumetone is a naphthylalkanone designated chemically as 4-(6-methoxy-2-naphthalenyl)-2-butanone. It has the following structure: C 15 H 16 O 2 M.W. 228.3 Nabumetone is a white to off-white crystalline substance. It is nonacidic and practically insoluble in water, but soluble in alcohol and most organic solvents. It has an n-octanol:phosphate buffer partition coefficient of 2,400 at pH 7.4. Each tablet, for oral administration, contains either 500 mg, 750 mg, or 1000 mg of nabumetone. Ursodiol is a bile acid available as 200 mg and 400 mg capsules suitable for oral administration. Ursodiol (ursodesoxycholic acid), is a naturally occurring bile acid found in small quantities in normal human bile and in the biles of certain other mammals. It is a bitter-tasting, white powder freely soluble in ethanol, methanol, and glacial acetic acid; sparingly soluble in chloroform; slightly soluble in ether; and insoluble in water. The chemical name for ursodiol is 3α,7β-Dihydroxy-5β-cholan-24-oic acid (C 24 H 40 O 4 ). Ursodiol has a molecular weight of 392.57.
