Chemically, dapsone has an empirical formula of C 12 H 12 N 2 O 2 S. It is a white or slightly yellow-white, crystalline powder that has a molecular weight of 248.30. Dapsone’s chemical name is 4-[(4-aminobenzene) sulfonyl] aniline and its structural formula is: Each gram of ACZONE Gel, 7.5%, contains 75 mg of dapsone, USP, in a gel of diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, methylparaben, acrylamide/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer, isohexadecane, polysorbate 80, and purified water. Cordran Tape (Flurandrenolide Tape, USP) is a transparent, inconspicuous, plastic surgical tape. It contains Cordran (Flurandrenolide, USP), a potent corticosteroid for topical use. Flurandrenolide occurs as white to off-white, fluffy crystalline powder and is odorless. Flurandrenolide is practically insoluble in water and in ether. One gram dissolves in 72 mL of alcohol and in 10 mL of chloroform. The molecular weight of flurandrenolide is 436.52. The chemical name of flurandrenolide is Pregn-4-ene-3,20-dione, 6-fluoro-11,21 dihydroxy-16,17-[(1-methylethylidene)bis(oxy)]-, (6α, 11ß, 16α)-; its empirical formula is C 24 H 33 FO 6 . The structural formula is as follows: Each square centimeter contains 4 mcg (0.00916 μmol) flurandrenolide uniformly distributed in the adhesive layer. The tape is made of a thin, matte-finish polyethylene film that is slightly elastic and highly flexible. The adhesive is a synthetic copolymer of acrylate ester and acrylic acid that is free from substances of plant origin. Sarecycline hydrochloride is chemically described as (4 S ,4a S ,5a R ,12a S )-4-(dimethylamino)-3,10,12,12a-tetrahydroxy-7-[(methoxy-(methyl)-amino)- methyl]-1,11-dioxo-1,4,4a,5,5a,6,11, 12a-octahydrotetracene-2-carboxamide monohydrochloride with an empirical formula of C 24 H 29 N 3 O 8 .HCl and a molecular weight of 523.96. The structural formula is represented below: SEYSARA tablets contain 64.5 mg, 107.5 mg, and 161.2 mg of sarecycline hydrochloride equivalent to 60 mg, 100 mg, and 150 mg sarecycline respectively. Inactive ingredients in the tablet formulations are: microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, sodium starch glycolate, and sodium stearyl fumarate. Each gram of TAZORAC Gel, 0.05% and 0.1% contains 0.5 and 1 mg of tazarotene, respectively in a translucent, aqueous gel. Tazarotene is a member of the acetylenic class of retinoids. Chemically, tazarotene is ethyl 6-[(4,4-dimethylthiochroman-6-yl)ethynyl]nicotinate. The compound has an empirical formula of C21H21NO2S and molecular weight of 351.46. The structural formula is shown below: TAZORAC Gel contains the following inactive ingredients: benzyl alcohol 1%;ascorbic acid; butylated hydroxyanisole; butylated hydroxytoluene; carbomer homopolymer type B; edetate disodium; hexylene glycol; poloxamer 407; polyethylene glycol 400; polysorbate 40; purified water; and tromethamine.
