Levorphanol Tartrate Tablets, contain levorphanol, an opioid agonist with a molecular formula of C 17 H 23 NO • C 4 H 6 O 6 • 2H 2 O and molecular weight 443.5. Each milligram of levorphanol tartrate is equivalent to 0.58 mg levorphanol base. Levorphanol’s chemical name is levo-3-hydroxy-N-methylmorphinan. The USP nomenclature is 17-methylmorphinan 3-ol, tartrate (1:1) (salt) dihydrate. The material has 3 asymmetric carbon atoms. The chemical structure is: Levorphanol tartrate is a white crystalline powder, soluble in water and ether, but insoluble in chloroform. It is freely soluble in water; sparingly soluble in warm alcohol, insoluble in chloroform, acetone, ether and benzene. Each capsule, for oral administration, contains 105 mg phendimetrazine tartrate manufactured in a special base designed for prolonged release. Progesterone (pregn-4-ene-3, 20-dione) is a white or creamy white, odorless, crystalline powder practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol, acetone and dioxane and sparingly soluble in vegetable oils, stable in air, melting between 126° and 131°C. The structural formula is: Progesterone is synthesized from a starting material from a plant source and is chemically identical to progesterone of human ovarian origin. PROMETRIUM Capsules are available in multiple strengths to afford dosage flexibility for optimum management. PROMETRIUM Capsules contain 100 mg or 200 mg micronized progesterone. The inactive ingredients for PROMETRIUM Capsules 100 mg include: peanut oil NF, gelatin NF, glycerin USP, lecithin NF, titanium dioxide USP, FD&C Red No. 40, and D&C Yellow No. 10.
