Diclofenac sodium topical gel, 1% w/w is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) for topical use only. It contains the active ingredient, diclofenac sodium, USP, in an opaque, white to off-white gel base. Diclofenac sodium, USP is a white to off-white crystalline powder. Diclofenac sodium, USP is a benzeneacetic acid derivative. The chemical name is 2-[(2,6-dichlorophenyl)amino]benzeneacetic acid, monosodium salt. The molecular weight is 318.13. Its molecular formula is C 14 H 10 Cl 2 NNaO 2 .
