VYSCOXA contains celecoxib, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent. The chemical name of celecoxib is 4-[5-(4-methylphenyl)- 3-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrazol-1-yl] benzenesulfonamide. Celecoxib has a molecular weight of is 381.38 g/mol, a molecular formula of C 17 H 14 F 3 N 3 O 2 S, and the following structural formula: Celecoxib is a white to off-white powder with a pKa of 11.1 (sulfonamide moiety). Celecoxib is hydrophobic (log P is 3.5) and is practically insoluble in aqueous media at physiological pH range. The inactive ingredients in VYSCOXA oral suspension include: anhydrous citric acid, glycerin, magnesium aluminometasilicate, methylparaben, propylparaben, purified water, sodium citrate dihydrate, sucralose, and xanthan gum. Sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid may be used to adjust the pH to 4.5 – 5.5. Chemical Structure
